( CHARACTER INFORMATION )

Name/Work Name: Sakamichi Onoda (Hime)
Canon: Yowamushi Pedal
Canon Point: Post day 1 of Inter high
AU/CRAU: Nope :v
Age: 15
History: Wiki link!

Personality:
First and foremost, Onoda is the sort of person who is very, very awkward to deal with in social situations. He has a tendency to speak without much thought, and ends up on strange topics, unable to pick up cues that other's might not be comfortable with or want to talk about whatever it is he landed on. It seems much like Onoda isn't aware that he does this, either, as he vary rarely gets embarrassed over it, and if he does it's typically after being called out on his odd behavior.

He likes to try and maintain a positive outlook on life. Going in to high school he was determined to make his experiences more fulfilling than his previous years at middle school, and wile his exact plans to do so looked like they had failed right away, he was determined to bring them to fruition. Even after his ambitions to start the anime club came up short, he found a place to fit in with the bike racing club, where his cheerful disposition and general optimism snagged him a good number of friendships.

Even so, his optimism has its limits, and he is prone to a defeatist attitude when situations take a turn for the worst for him. Onoda is very much the sort of person who is quick to support others, but unable to support himself without having the same treatment given back. When the odds are stacked against him, giving up is both a very scary and completely real prospect if he's in an isolated situation. Typically, back-up comes for him in the nick of time in order to boost his morale enough to get him through tough situations, though the fact that his motivation can be dampened so heavily is important to note and also a fairly apparent thing to Onoda himself. He does not see the best qualities of himself, so shortcomings like this are things he is very aware of.

Despite his self-deprecating tendencies, Onoda can easily see the best personality traits in other people. The effort is largely an unconscious one, and more frequently than not his praise comes very simply as "So-and-so is cool!", but his knack for zeroing in on things that will boost another person's confidence is a valuable skill. It's enough to help his team mates in tough situations, and it does very well to endear him to others.

In spite of, or perhaps due to his lack of companionship through his life, Onoda is incredibly amiable. His motivations stem almost wholly from wanting to have friends he can talk about his interests with, and wanting to feel like he has a group he belongs to. It is frequently noted that he didn't have any friends growing up for one reason or another, so when he does happen to find someone he feels some sort of connection with, he's quick to latch on to that connection. Despite how strange and awkward his thought processes can be, he's usually good at picking out and saying things that people want to hear, especially when it comes to compliments. It's not something that's done consciously, so perhaps it's less of a skill and more of a hidden talent.

When push comes to shove, Onoda is shown time and time again to be able to overcome even the most daunting of tasks set in front of him, whether it be from sheer determination or simply not realizing how big of a challenge he's facing. When being given equipment that would normally intimidate beginner racers, Onoda takes to using it all very naturally. When placed in situations where he's at a distinct disadvantage, if there are others to catch up to, he will do whatever it takes to meet up with them. His tenacity is surprising to others around him, however he doesn't seem to realize it in himself.

One last thing to note is Onoda's passion for anime. It's a huge driving force for him prior to the series, and helps him in various smaller ways through the course of it as well. It's silly and nerdy, but it has played a huge part in making him who he is.

Debt: Onoda's strongest desire at his current canon point is' to be someone who can help the team'. His self-confidence is super lacking, So despite earning his spot on the team, he's uncertain that he can continue to be useful or live up to everyone else's (though, mostly his own) expectations.

Suitability: Onoda will not necessarily be happy about being put in this situation (He's got more important things he needs to be doing! And he doesn't want everyone back home to be worried!) but when put to a task, Onoda is the sort of person to fight tooth and nail to accomplish it. He will do his work without complaining too much, if only because that's the fastest way to get back, right? Right.

Previous Game Info: Nothing to see here

Inventory: At the time of being taken, Onoda will have had his team jersey with him, but not much else of importance to note.

Abilities, Strengths, and Weaknesses: Onoda's biggest and most obvious special ability is being accidentally very good at bikes. The circumstances in his life (weekly trips to Akihabara on his bike in order to save train fare, living on top of a steep hill, having his bike modified to be more difficult to ride. etc.,) all led to him having scads of unhoned potential.

Unpredictability has also been noted as a strength for him, as his raw enthusiasm and drive to meet challenges has him overcoming all sorts of tasks which should be outside of his skill range. For such a mild personality, he is surprisingly tenacious, which becomes a highly valuable trait for him and his team. Additionally, his tendency to zero in on other people's good traits and dish out genuine compliments has him winning allies left and right.

His weaknesses are many, however, such as that he doesn't think very highly of himself, even while being able to spot and praise the merits of others very easily. A lack of self confidence and introverted nature left him completely friendless until he entered High School, and as a result, his social skills aren't well developed. Physically, his stamina is fairly low, and while he's shown to slowly be developing more and more through the series, he's typically the first on the team to succumb to fatigue.
